The 2018 events at Kilauea volcano: curiosity-driven science in a crisis
Bruce Houghton has done research on volcanoes around the world, including his native New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska and Iceland. His achievements have made him one of the most influential scientists in his field. In 2017 Bruce received the Sigurður Thorarinsson Medal, the highest award given by IAVCEI, for his contributions to volcanology. Bruce has a strong connection to Iceland including long-lasting research collaborations with some Icelandic colleagues and has been a co-supervisor of some of our PhD students.
